The New Postcard: STD Arrived, Hope You Are Healthy

Posted by Susan Walsh on Jan 24, 2009 in Hooking Up Realities |

Technology continues to play a critical role in the way young people communicate. Now there’s a new way to share some bad news. You can send an e-card anonymously to notify a hookup that you have an STD. Check out the story here: E-Cards on Rise for Notifying Partner of an S.T.D. – NYTimes.com.

Don’t get me wrong, I think this is a great way to alert a hookup they may have been infected with an STD if you can’t bring yourself to tell them directly. But receiving one of these babies in my inbox would FREAK ME OUT!

So hook up smart. Think carefully about:

  • Who you hook up with
  • How far you go
  • Staying sober enough to remember the condom

Thoughts? Would you send one to avoid the conversation? Would it piss you off if you got this kind of news anonymously? Please comment.
