Breakup depression

“A relationship, I think, is like a shark, you know? It has to constantly move forward or it dies. And I think what we got on our hands is a dead shark.”

Woody Allen

This is the hardest stage of surviving a breakup. And it’s also often the longest. You’ve done a good job getting back to the business of living your life, but the truth is you still miss him. You know it’s over, but you still don’t want it to be. You may even have reached the point of understanding that you deserve something better. But it just keeps hurting, day after day, and that sucks. You wonder if you will ever really get past it.

Just remember that you’re still making progress. It’s like that old saying, “It is always darkest before the dawn.” You are now in the Fifth Stage of relationship grief, only one left to go. Keep your friends close, take care of yourself, ask for help when you need it, and be thankful for the blessings you do have.

Here’s some music to put on Repeat. It’s a bit sad and melancholy, but that’s good. You are not ready to pump your fist in the air and go cruisin’ yet.
