If You Like It Then You Shoulda Put a Stumble On It
I need to talk to you about a really important guy in my life. His name is Stumble Upon. He is huge and powerful, and whenever I spend time with him I feel special. He gives me so much attention! He has introduced me to a ton of people already, but I want to meet everyone he knows. I think it will really help me grow. Sometimes I meet his friends when I am not at my absolute best, and that doesn’t work too well. Stumble Upon’s friends expect me to be witty and intelligent at all times. When I’m on my game, though, I love spending time with Stumble!
OK, so I exaggerated. He looks more like this:
Stumble and I have been flirting for a while but he hasn’t made a real commitment. He comes in and out of my life, and he’s totally unpredictable. Sometimes he shows up to surprise me, and other times, when I want nothing more than to hear from him, he is MIA. I was thinking it might help if you put in a good word for me. Would you do that? I’m not asking you to lie or anything. I just want you to let Stumble Upon know when I have written something good.
Here’s what you need to know if you are willing to help me get in there with this hottie:
- Stumble Upon is a tool, and I mean that in the nicest possible way.
- You can get the Stumble Upon toolbar by going to their website HERE and downloading it.
- You can also send content to Stumble.
- You can also Stumble a post that you like on Hooking Up Smart by clicking the Stumble buttons on the site.
It’s a toolbar that sits in your browser. You select the topics you are interested in, and Stumble will send you stuff he thinks you’ll like whenever you click the Stumble button. If you like what Stumble sends, let him know by giving it a thumbs up. If it sucks, give it a thumbs down. After a while, Stumble figures out what you like and only sends you that stuff. It’s very cool. It’s like the perfect boy telling you what you want to hear all day long. (And I do mean all day long; Stumble Upon is VERY addictive.)
Once you’ve done that, visit my Stumble profile and add me as a friend! Now you can start Stumbling, and enjoy the content that Stumble sends your way.
If you are online and find something really interesting on your own, you can “Stumble It.” If Stumble knows about it already, then it’s just a regular vote. But you may be the first person to find that great content, and when you Stumble It, Stumble will ask you for some info. about it. Not much, it will just ask you to give it a short review, tag it, and place it in a relevant category. Then Stumble will start showing it to other people, and if they like it, the whole thing snowballs, and oh, it is the best thing ever! Then I get to meet tons of new people, and most won’t be interested, but some will, and they will come back again and again, like you!

Blogging is a labor of love, and we all need positive feedback from time to time. Also, Stumble Upon gets really pissy if they think you are biased, and just promoting the same site all the time. So it’s best to share the love, you know what I mean?
Please know that you are really important to me. If you don’t like Stumble, I will have to consider that. Maybe I will have to start spending more of my time with Reddit instead. But I hope you will give him a chance, because he’s kind of a big deal in my life.
