Crazy About Beirut

My newest obsession is Beirut, a Brooklyn-based band described as a combo of indie-rock and world music. (H/T: Mr. HUS) I have a real soft spot for bands like this. Here they are performing a Tiny Desk concert at NPR. First they play my fave, East Harlem, and then Santa Fe, another great song. It would mean a lot to me if I knew Lena Dunham was a fan.

By the way, frontman and genius Zach Condon is only 26, but he’s wearing a wedding ring along with at least half his band members. Dads, not cads. Just saying.

Anybody who likes Beirut would love Anathallo

I’m sorry that they’re defucnt and that all the members have gone onto participate in inferior, but more commercially viable bands.

I’ve seen them live in the BK! Great, bouncy fun!

Do you like Balkan Beat Box and Gogol Bordello too?

@Mule

They have a great sound too, I hate it when great music never finds its audience.

@pennies

I don’t know them, but I’m going to ask Mr. HUS, who is my advisor on all musical matters. :)
