Here"s a tidbit for Byron:

In the United Kingdom, the British Board of Film Classification has banned films alleged to show female ejaculation, claiming that the expert medical advice they received informed them that there is no such thing as female ejaculation, and therefore it was deemed to show urine.[83][84] Urination during sex (or "piss play", as they refer to it) is considered to be obscenity under English Law.[85] They later stated instead that they do not take any view on whether female ejaculation exists, only claiming that all examples they have seen thus far during classification have been urination during sex

One thing I don"t understand is the debate over the nature of the liquid. It"s clear there is liquid, but what is the significance of it"s being prostate gland fluid vs. bladder fluid? Since it serves no bio purpose whatsoever, why is this not a simple matter of inquiry, rather than a heated controversy?

It seems clear to me that some people want it to be true that women are simply getting so excited they"re peeing their pants, while others are invested in the "skill" of producing a clear and mysterious liquid that is much more interesting than pee.

There"s also the question of whether all women can experience the same level of orgasm intensity. I don"t know how much this varies by woman, or by man for that matter. I"ve had orgasms that were mere blips and others were so intense they made me dizzy and even gave me a headache! Is Sassy"s squirting orgasm more intense than the one someone else gets from oral, or their Hitachi wand.

Here"s an interesting account from a Jezebel writer:

http://jezebel.com/351263/shej…..e-the-gush

She doesn"t seem to feel anything differently, but she does describe herself as getting better at orgasms. She also points out that one cannot squirt on demand, and that porn actresses pee instead. She does say she squirts a cup or two – that has to be from the bladder. The prostate, such as it is, is just a vestigial area, certainly not a cavity that can hold a pint!

And that is more than I ever wanted to know about squirting.

@ Susan

Haha, I agree. The subject can be a little too much sometimes.

My theory as to why the nature of the fluid is so important is that they have very different implications. I think one of the reasons men are so fascinated with squirting orgasms deals with the fact that it is seen as tangible evidence of an orgasm occurring. Women are believed to fake a lot of their orgasms. I"ve done my fair share of that. When squirting happens, however, it"s tangible proof that the woman orgasmed, just like semen is tangible evidence that the man orgasmed. If a guy gets a woman to squirt, it"s seen as a badge of honor to the thought that he satisfies his woman sexually, and with visual proof to boot.

For squirting to be attributed to urine instead of a different liquid expelled during orgasm, it takes away the proof of orgasm. The mystique is gone and it becomes merely another way women could possibly fake their orgasms.

I"ve experienced the badge of honor mentality about squirting with my ex. He felt like the king of the bedroom because he could make me squirt. Nothing could have knocked him off his throne whenever it happened. He felt he was the grand poobah by accomplishing it.

I had wondered why Merchant Ivory films were so dull.

I think one of the reasons men are so fascinated with squirting orgasms deals with the fact that it is seen as tangible evidence of an orgasm occurring.

I think that"s a lot to do with it. The abandon with which a woman comes like that is quite a wonder to behold.

It"s become an issue because there are still doctors & sexologists denying its very existence, & so the argument "no, you just pissed yourself" is a very demeaning put-down for the women who"ve experienced it firsthand. Imagine if the first time you came you were told "no, the female orgasm doesn"t exist. What you had was just a fart." Or teenage boys being told "no, that"s nothing special, you just wet the bed. After all, it comes out of the same place. How dirty of you."

As to the liquid, like I said, I really don"t know where it comes from, but as I also said, it smells different (though similarly thin & mildly ammonia-like), tastes different, & is clear. So either some of the fluid from the bladder is mixed with something else (the prostate gland fluid?) or…? I don"t know. Something like that. It just is, anyway.

Also, when one squirts, it comes out of a different . . . erm . . . . orifice. So, unless the bladder has another route out, I don"t know how it could be urine.

Well yes, that"s how it appears to me too. Hard to say where the fluid could be coming from, though. Maybe what I said before is right & the carrier fluid is drawn from the bladder somehow.

Squirting is through the urethra.

That totally makes sense about men loving the visual evidence of the orgasm, I hadn"t even thought of that! My daughter once asked me when one should fake an orgasm, and I said never with a man you hope to see again, that"s for sure. You"re just painting yourself into a corner, and will either have to fess up or appear to get less orgasmic over time. Better to offer a bit of sexy coaching and get there.

Ok so now I"m curious if any of these questions have been answered decisively. Wikipedia says

Female ejaculation (commonly known as gushing, cumming or squirting[1]) refers to the expulsion of noticeable amounts of clear fluid by human females from the paraurethral ducts through and around the urethra during or before an orgasm.

The paraurethral ducts are also known as Skene"s gland,

The location of the Skene"s gland is the general area of the vulva, glands located on the anterior wall of the vagina around the lower end of the urethra. It has been postulated that the Skene"s glands are the source of female ejaculation.[2] In 2002, Emanuele Jannini of L"Aquila University in Italy showed that there may be an explanation both for the phenomenon and for the frequent denials of its existence. Skene"s glands have highly variable anatomy, and in some extreme cases they appear to be absent entirely. If Skene"s glands are the cause of female ejaculation and G-Spot-orgasms, this may explain the absence in many women.[3][4]

It has been demonstrated that a large amount of lubricating fluid (filtered blood plasma[specify]) can be secreted from this gland when stimulated from inside the vagina.[5] Some reports indicate that embarrassment regarding female ejaculation, and the mistaken notion that the substance is urine, can lead to purposeful suppression of sexual climax, leading women to seek medical advice and even undergo surgery to "stop the urine".[6]

The Skene"s glands are homologous with the prostate gland in males.[7] The fluid that emerges during sex, female ejaculation, has a composition somewhat similar to the fluid generated in males by the prostate gland,[8][9] containing biochemical markers of sexual function like human urinary protein 1[10] and the enzyme PDE5 where women without the gland had lower concentrations.[11] When examined with electron microscopy, both glands show similar secretory structures,[12] and both act similarly in terms of prostate-specific antigen and prostate-specific acid phosphatase studies.[13][14][15][16] Because they are increasingly perceived as merely different versions of the same gland, some researchers are moving away from the name Skene"s gland and are referring to it instead as the female prostate.

Now researchers believe that female cum is produced by the Skene"s glands, which are located near a woman"s urethra and are made of tissue that"s similar in composition to a man"s prostate gland. These researchers point to chemical analysis of female ejaculate that reveals the presence of high levels of prostatic acid phosphatase (a chemical secreted by the prostate gland and found in semen). This would seem to indicate that a woman"s ejaculation is similar in composition to semen — without the sperm, of course. Female ejaculate is not pee. It"s generally clear or somewhat milky, nearly odorless, and maybe a little sweet.

-Columbia University Health Services

One thing that distinguishes the fluid from urine is that it contains elevated levels of two proteins, prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and prostate-specific acid phosphatase (PSAP). PSA and PSAP are found in male ejaculate and originate in the prostate gland. This leads some researchers to conclude that women must have something analogous to a prostate gland themselves. The emerging consensus, in fact, is that the paraurethral glands, which run more or less parallel to the urethra, are the "female prostate." Orgasm may cause these glands to empty out. Some think female ejaculate consists solely of discharge from the paraurethral glands, others that it"s a mix of glandular secretions and urine, but I don"t know of any firm evidence for either theory.

- Cecil Adams, The Straight Dope

That last part is interesting, as it seems to concur with my earlier hunch.

Finally, may God forgive me, I even looked over at Jezebel.com:

While I do believe that most girls in squirting fetish pornos are just pissing (since, like I said, it doesn"t seem possible to do on command),

(Not sure if I fully agree with this, what I"ve seen on the interweb has looked genuine, but it"s a great big world so who knows)

I know that what comes out of me is not pee. I live my life perpetually suffering between either mild dehydration or a UTI, meaning that my piss is (ab)normally cloudy, stinky, and dark. The stuff that comes out of me when I squirt doesn"t smell like that, and it dries white on my sheets.

The mystery continues.

Crap, I didn"t want to get too far into this conversation about squirting, but the whole thing really is terribly interesting.

A couple of things: It must be very different for each woman as my experience is nothing like what others have written here. I don"t think the fluid comes from the bladder, at least not for me. (Good God I can"t believe I am going into this) I have had this happen to me while having to go to the bathroom and the feeling of having to go does not abate one bit. Also, I don"t think it comes from the urethra as it is a completely different sensation than going to the bathroom. The urethra is too small of a hole for it to gush the way it does. Also, one last thing, (ahem) not all women need G-spot stimulation for it to happen and some can control it. (At least one can ; ) )

Ok, now I am going to go try to get the red out of my cheeks now.

From Wikipedia:

Scientific studies from the 1980s and later have demonstrated that the substance produced is distinct from urine, though it does show similarities such as alkalinity with urine.[7] A recent study of women who report ejaculation found no evidence of any urological problems, suggesting these two conditions (ejaculation and coital incontinence) are quite distinct physiologically, although perhaps not always distinguishable in a particular individual"s mind.[citation needed] Davidson"s study of 1,289 women found that the sensation of ejaculation was very similar to that of urination.[3] The best evidence indicates that most fluid expelled during female orgasm is urine. One study used urethral catheterization in order to separate urine from orgasmic expulsions from elsewhere in the body. Seven women claiming to have ejaculations expelled large volumes of urine through the catheter at orgasm, and little to no other fluid.[61] No catheterization study has shown large volumes of fluid expelled at orgasm from any source other than the bladder.

Here"s the study:

Gary Schubach (August 2001). "Urethral Expulsions During Sensual Arousal and Bladder Catheterization in Seven Human Females". Electronic Journal of Human Sexuality

This is basically what Byron suggested, but seven is a very small sample. There are probably many different things being experienced under this heading by different women.
